In February 2010, the group Tea Party Nation organized the first Tea Party Convention in Nashville, TN, a for-profit event. Some 600 people paid $550 to attend, and Sarah Palin was reportedly paid $115,000 to the be the keynote speaker. After criticism of the convention’s cost, for-profit status, and payment to Palin, multiple national Tea Party organizations withdrew their participation.

But the event went on.

And so did the paranoid, conspiratorial assertions–that President Obama was born in another country, that he has covered up his college transcripts, that he is pushing a communist/socialist agenda, that he is protecting terrorists and endangering our country, etc.

The organizers of the convention made great efforts to limit access to the press, and even held “new-media training” sessions to help the Tea Partiers sound and look better on camera–the more people see inside this movement, the less like it. But we got ourselves into the event, where the right-wing, fringe sentiments were on plain display.

That said, these Tea Partiers–able to pay the cost of attendance–are more affluent than those at the 9.12 DC March, and more self-conscious of they are portrayed in the media. There were fewer signs and homemade t-shirts here, but the attitudes, if more subtle in delivery, were the same.

Fox News & Tea …
Fox News & Tea baggers, and most conservatives are nuts. I love watching these morons like Palin, Orly Tatiz, Rush Limbaugh & others dig themselves deeper into a hole of lies about Obama’s policies, and I love it even more when progressives & liberals expose them for the liars they truly are. Keep the fire burning, Obama.

I actually feel …
I actually feel kind of bad for Orly Taitz. She’s very obviously mentally ill and instead of getting treatment or medicine, she’s being used as a political toy for these guys.

There is nothing …
There is nothing unconstitutional about the reform. They took that Nebraska thing out anyway. And they CAN pass this. :) And I can’t wait till they do. The GOP has used reconciliation numerous times over the last years…..so….:)

@Neuromancer1970: I …
@Neuromancer1970: I believe an individual who is terminally ill should decide for themselves which course they should pursue, including assisted suicide. There’s no doubt that fraud exists in the medical professions. But, to think that government could solve it would be foolish.

@joe80dman so you …
@joe80dman so you social conservatives believe its a person’s right to deny medical cares or coverage for one’s self but those same “individual’s Right’s” don’t apply to mercy killing and assisted suicide for the chronically and terminally ill.

@joe80dman Uh…no, …
@joe80dman Uh…no, its wasteful spending for medical. $700 for a catheter (which is nothing more than a tube, $200 for sutures

@luvblueshockey: …
@luvblueshockey: Congress, or Obama, can’t pass laws that are un-Constitutional. There’s also the issue of States Rights, and an individual’s Rights (10th Amendment). The entire concept is fraudulent. Look how they gave Nebraska special exempt status for a Yes vote. This shows the illegality of the entire fiasco. We are a nation of Laws, NOT men (or institutions).

Dead? Are you …
Dead? Are you kidding me?????? They have to, by law, treat anyone that comes through the door. And you can’t blame it all on illegals. There are hundreds of thousands of American’s who can’t afford health care now, so they go to the ER when they’re sick. That’s why this bill needs to pass!!!
RECONCILIATION BABY!!!!!! :)

@luvblueshockey: …
@luvblueshockey: The Hippocratic Oath is dead. ER’s don’t care if people die, neither do most MD’s. It’s the burdensome costs of supplying illegals with free health care that have bankrupted many hospitals, and many state governments. Are you expecting medical professionals to work for free?

Check out this …
Check out this Conserva-tard Ronnie who was dumped by IDUMP4U. The guy got laid off so instead of looking for a new job, he spent the next seven months watching Faux News Channel all day while collecting unemployment. The guy is also a big Glenn Beck fan, goes to a lot of tea-parties and even Disses the movie “Avatar” for its “liberal message”. This is GREAT!!! XD

Why don’t these …
Why don’t these people just all move to Alaska or something and start their own Tea Party nation. I mean they hate big cities, online media (aka elitist leftist bloggers), service economy, etc. They contribute so little to America and hate it so much, why don’t they just leave (less social security we have to pay)?

Todd for sure is a man’s man.

oh god how i Love & hate watching these people.
the depths of their ignorance is frightening, however it’s hysterical at the same time.
i truly hope some of the people who attend these horrid events come across these videos and reflect upon the ridiculous stupidity that they’re aligning themselves with. [granted anyone who would be affiliated with such a group has their heads too far up their own to do any form of self reflection, but it'd be nice if they could receive a reaLity slap ]

@joe80dman ER’s …
@joe80dman ER’s have an obligation to help anyone that shows up at their door. If they turned someone away and that person died, legal citizen or not, they’d be in huge trouble.
It’s not about courts doing anything, it’s about the Hippocratic Oath.

@luvblueshockey: My …
@luvblueshockey: My whole point is that we shouldn’t be giving ANY non-citizens health care. They’ve already bankrupted California, and there’s no end in sight. I don’t like Fox News. I don’t care much for any MSM outlets. The Courts have forced ER facilities to grant health care to illegals. The Courts are NOT legislative bodies, so they should just stay out of the issue.

@joe80dman
Gee Joe, like buying auto insurance? Wearing a seatbelt?
And no one is giving non-citizens health care. They do get it now, along with other people who can’t afford health insurance when the go to the local ER. And who pays for that??? You really need to back away from Faux News.

@xetlive: The …
@xetlive: The quotes you’ve posted have been either taken out of context, or fabricated by those who want to subvert the true history of this country. I’ve read countless quotes by the Founders that say the complete opposite. They were opposed to DENOMINATIONS, aka organized churches. It is these institutions that have destroyed the Word of God for their own self-aggrandizement (money). Why else do you think they coveted “Freedom of Religion” as an inalienable Right”? Ignore the lies.
